This year is one of the hardest ever. COVID, masks, no masks, social distancing, and close contact. Then we have deficiencies to address because kids lost ground last year due to closure. Then with the challenges of virtual learning and not seeing kids face to face, those hardest to reach and hardest to teach stand a great chance of being even further behind.
There are tons of other issues that I failed to mention such as student stress, parent stress, and the stress of the political climate. With everything coming at us, it is easy to think that this is too much, and it would be easier to just quit or give up.
BUT THAT'S NOT THE END OF THE STORY!
Remember these things. You possess immense power to change the trajectory of a child's life. Your ability has the potential to turn challenges into championships. You can transform years of failure into a success story. All you have to do is never give up. Never underestimate yourself. Never let the negativity kill your belief in yourself.
As you head into Thanksgiving break, I challenge you to count your blessings, not your stressings. Embrace the fact that this is the hardest year we have ever seen, but it won't last forever. You will be better so long as you don't get bitter.
Don't give up. You got this! Happy Thanksgiving!
